Seabourn Encore 37-Day Seas of Sinbad From Greece to Singapore 23rd Day: Doha

The rapid development and progress of the Arab countries in the Gulf never fail to amaze me.

Qatar is such one country which has transformed itself from a desert to an ultra modern country. Doha was founded in 1820 as an offshoot of Al Bidda.

Officially declared as the country’s capital in 1971, Doha has become the commercial capital and one of the emergent financial centres in the Middle East.

The Pearl is the high-end luxury which is located on a man-made island off the coast on the northern side of the island.

The Porto Arabia marina with cruise boats and a mall stacked with the designer clothes shop, is fascinating. Near Souq Waqif we saw camels, falcons and Arab horses right in the centre of Doha. What a contrast to all the super modern architecture.

Museum of Islamic Art is an iconic feature of Doha skyline. The Museum represents the full scope of Islamic art from three continents over 1,400 years.
