In search of the Alpenrose

This is a plant native to the Alps and grows just above the tree line in the Alps. It’s an evergreen shrub that grows up to 1 m. tall and produces clusters of pinkish-red, bell-shaped flowers throughout the summer.

We went up to the three famous passes of Switzerland, Susten, 2,260 m., Grimsel, 2,164 m., and Furka, 2,429 m.

We went up to the three famous passes of Switzerland, Susten, 2,260 m., Grimsel, 2,164 m., and Furka, 2,429 m.

What met our eyes were fields of Alpenrose, albeit rather difficult to reach in certain areas.

However, with some effort and climbing, we managed to capture the pictures of some of the lovely and almost inaccessible flowers.

It’s forbidden by law of the country to pick the Alpenrose and rightly so.

Do enjoy the fantastic view of the three passes and last but not least the flowers.
